On May 2, 2024, the China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CPECC) signed an agreement with the University of Basra to train and develop young talents and enhance their capabilities in the oil sector. Which took place at the CPECC headquarters in South Rumaila.
The agreement, which was attended by representatives of the Chinese side and representatives from the University of Basra, represented by the Director of the Department of Cultural Relations and Missions, Professor Jabbar Amin, the Director of the Student Affairs and Registration Department, Dr. Shukri Shaker, the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, Dr. Muhannad Hamed, and the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Basra, Dr. Mufid Turki, aims to develop Young talents and enhancing distinguished Iraqi capabilities through optimal cooperation in the educational field and the field of oil industries to advance education and industry.
The program includes training a number of graduates with the aim of preparing them for the labor market and employing some of them annually in the company.
This agreement is an important step to encourage the university’s graduates to increase their capabilities and capabilities with the aim of entering the oil labor market after graduation.
