President of Basra University || The university seeks to cooperate with all universities in the Gulf and has channels of communication with Saudi universities

The province of Basra in the Republic of Iraq is the confluence of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and the extension of the Shatt al-Arab. It is famous for the diversity of its terrain, the sea to the south, the marshes to the north, the desert to the west, and the agricultural areas on both banks of the Shatt al-Arab.  And including the University of Basra, he said
 The President of the University of Basra, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, revealed the university's intention to organize the Arab Universities Football Championship after the successes achieved by the 25th Gulf Cup.  Dr. Hammadi added
 That the tournament will include the countries surrounding Iraq with two universities from each country, to strengthen scientific ties and relations between universities in preparation for signing understandings and agreements for the exchange of experiences and scientific and cultural cooperation, explaining that the university is one of the oldest universities in southern Iraq, as it is the third university after the University of Baghdad and Mosul, founded in 1964  M, it started with only three colleges and today it includes 22 colleges in various scientific and human specializations, in addition to six accredited research centers inside and outside Iraq.  And he indicated that the university witnessed during the past two years great leaps in global rankings, especially after the great scars of the Corona pandemic and the introduction of electronic systems, and last year the university won two awards out of a total of eight awards in the British Times classification, and the university entered within the recognition of the Shanghai classification.  He explained that the University of Basra seeks to cooperate with all universities and has channels of communication with Saudi, Bahraini and other universities. It also seeks to provide an atmosphere of scientific cooperation with Gulf universities and research centers in particular, adding that the university attracts a number of scholarship students from a number of brotherly and friendly countries, and there are notes  Cooperation with King Abdulaziz University, which resulted in a visit of a student delegation from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basra to King Abdulaziz University and King Saud University, in addition to memorandums of cooperation with a number of Arab Gulf universities
